WE FACE THE BIGGEST THREAT!

While we are trying to figure out what precautions we can take against the threats posed by global climate change, we now notice the effects of climate change in its harshest form in our gardens every year.

As the Walnut Producers Association, within the framework of our sustainability principles, we have initiated a very important study on the measures that can be taken regarding global climate change in walnut-producing orchards throughout Turkey.

FEDERICO LOPEZ EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON WALNUT PRODUCTION AND SOLUTIONS SEMINAR 2024

Spanish agricultural engineer Federico Lopez Larrinaga, who is known as an authority on hard shells, especially in walnut production, and who provides consultancy services in dozens of countries on 4 continents, is a consultant agricultural engineer in organizations such as the California Walnut Association of America, the Chilean Walnut Association, and the Mexican Walnut Association.

In the light of his extensive knowledge and experience, he made his presentation titled "The Effects of Climate Change on Walnut Production and Solutions", which he organized in Spain, Georgia and Italy in 2023, specifically for garden owners who want to produce walnuts and entrepreneurs who have just entered walnut cultivation, by the Walnut Producers Association. will be held in Turkey on May 11, 2024.

Strategies of Walnut Producers to Cope with Global Climate Change: Federico Lopez's Perspective

Climate change is a problem that deeply affects today's agriculture and poses a serious threat to those operating in the agricultural sector, such as walnut producers. In the face of this situation, it is vital for walnut producers to make their walnut orchards more resilient by taking appropriate measures. Spanish agricultural engineer Federico Lopez will give an important seminar on this subject and guide walnut producers.

Soil and Water Management:

Federico Lopez will present important strategies to walnut growers on soil and water management. It will discuss ways to preserve soil moisture and use water resources efficiently against the effects of climate change such as drought and irregular rainfall. He will also share practical solutions that can be applied to prevent erosion and maintain soil health.

Increase in Diversity:

Federico Lopez will emphasize why increasing diversity is important for walnut producers. Growing different walnut varieties is an effective strategy to adapt to climate change and reduce risks. Lopez will discuss in detail the advantages of different varieties and proper growing techniques.

Pest Control:

The seminar will focus on the effects of pests and diseases on walnut production. Federico Lopez will introduce integrated pest management techniques and emphasize the importance of reducing chemical pesticide use. Additionally, ways to combat pests while preserving ecological balance will also be suggested.

Agricultural Practices Adaptable to Climate Change:

Finally, Lopez will discuss agricultural practices that will help walnut producers adapt to climate change. Methods such as creating agro-forest gardens and installing shade shelters and windbreaks can contribute to making farms more resilient.

The seminar given by Federico Lopez will make significant contributions to walnut producers to increase their knowledge and skills in coping with global climate change. Lopez's expertise and experiences will help professionals in the walnut industry develop solution-oriented approaches. This seminar will be an important step in helping walnut producers secure their future success.
