In the 4th episode of our Cevizyon Gündem program prepared by the Walnut Producers Association, the subject of Winter Pruning in Walnut Trees was discussed.
In the Winter Pruning section of the Cevizyon Agenda broadcast on our Walnut Producers Association YouTube channel, moderated by CÜD Board Member Haşimcan Yazıcıoğlu and hosted by MayCev General Manager Agricultural Engineer Adem Argaç, detailed information about pruning was given to walnut producers.
WE NO LONGER DO WINTER PRUNING
Based on the results of studies conducted by the University of California, UCDavis, in the last 10 years, which show that pruning walnut trees negatively affects the tree's productivity, it is observed that pruning is no longer done in California walnut orchards.
Agricultural Engineer Adem Argaç stated in his Master's degree study at UCDavis University of California and Uludağ University in the USA that the no-pruning technique scientifically increases yield, and thus, there is no longer any need for very troublesome pruning work, especially for large gardens, as has been scientifically proven.
